Our Leadership

Our Ministry Team currently comprises our Minister, Revd. David Stedman and Assistant Minister, Andrew Fitzgerald. The staff team includes a part-time Administrator as well as Student and Children & Youth Workers.
The Ministry Team is supported by Managing Trustees in the form of Elders and Deacons.
The role of the Elders is to serve the church as managing trustees with special responsibility for casting vision, providing direction through Bible teaching and leading worship, researching mission opportunities and initiating outreach, overseeing pastoral care and shaping future policy.
The role of the Deacons is to serve the church as managing trustees with special responsibility for implementing policy and managing church affairs. Most deacons represent a different aspect of church life and are responsible for ensuring that matters related to that department are communicated and acted upon.

Minister: Revd David Stedman
Dave has been in full-time Christian ministry since 1992, before which he was a company director working in the design and print industry. Having trained for ministry at Spurgeon’s College, Dave became minister of Walderslade Baptist Church, which grew from 25 to more than 100 members in the four years he was there. In addition to pastoral ministry at Canterbury Baptist Church, Dave is part of the chaplaincy team at Canterbury’s two universities, a local NHS Trust and to the Canterbury Rugby Football Club. He has a passion for preaching, people and Woking Football Club!
Dave and Cyra have been married for 18 years and they have three children, aged 16, 14 and 11.

Assistant Minister: Andrew Fitzgerald
Andrew has attended Canterbury Baptist Church since coming to study Music and Religious Studies at Canterbury Christchurch University six years ago. He is a fine musician and worship leader who is beginning to exercise a more ministerial role at Canterbury Baptist Church after having been employed for 3 years as our Director of Students & Young Adults. Apart from being an Arsenal supporter he’s a really 'good bloke'!
Andrew is married to Jenny, whom he met at university.
