Walking

walkingheader

We have a number of keen walkers at Canterbury Baptist Church, both male and female, young and elderly - some experienced, others just enthusiastic and keen to get outside!

Future Walks

The walkers meet every alternate Sunday at Canterbury Baptist Church after the morning church service at 12.45pm by the side door, and leave promptly at 1.00pm. The walk will normally be a distance of 5 to 6 miles. There is no need to sign up in advance; simply come prepared with a packed lunch, suitable footwear and clothing and good humour! All are welcome!

For all future walks, please see the church calendar or contact the church office, as per below link.

Past Walks

Date: October 2009
Location: White Cliffs, from Dover to St Margaret's
Report:
Today saw eight enthusiastic walkers and one car! We decided on plan B and a walk from the church into orchards on the outskirts of Canterbury. However, four young Romanians insisted on staying behind so that we could go to the white cliffs after all. We tried to convince them to walk with us but they declined and because of their generosity of spirit, we drove to Dover after all. It was an unusual situation as normally we would have 2 or 3 cars at our disposal. We hope that we will have more cars available for our next walk on 18th October. However, we have decided that we will always have 2 options: one with cars and one starting at the church.

Sally, Nellie, Agnes and I all enjoyed a wonderful walk from the National Trust carpark at Langdon Cliffs to St Margaret's Bay where we all appreciated eating ice-creams in the warm autumn sunshine. We spent three and a half hours walking the five and a half miles, so it was a very leisurely stroll. The title of our walk should be 'Where's Agnes?' because she had a wonderful afternoon taking many photos. We all got to know one another much better and look forward to our next excursion. Join us if you can! All you need is a packed lunch, appropriate clothing and footwear and good humour.

Date: September 2009
Location: Nature reserve of Stodmarsh
Report:
The first walking group outing was a great success. In spite of grey skies, we kept dry and the sun even tried to shine. We were a group of seven, representing five nationalities and enjoyed a two-hour walk in the beautiful nature reserve of Stodmarsh. In addition to our packed lunch which we ate at the picnic site at Grove Ferry, nature provided us with luscious blackberries, damsons and some (very sour) apples!
