Seniors

Canterbury has a growing number of older adults and this is projected to continue. At present the oldest member of Canterbury Baptist Church is 103 years old! We run several activities for the older adults.

Regular Activities

  • A bi-weekly Lunch Club for older people who live alone is especially popular.
  • Afternoon Communion Service, at 2.30pm on the first Sunday of every month.
  • Once a month dinner is followed by a short act of worship that many people choose to stay for.
  • There is a team of Pastoral Visitors who regularly visit infirm and housebound people, with Home Communion being administered as requested.
  • Community groups such as Canterbury Active Retirement Association and University of the Third Age currently make use of church rooms to host their meetings and are an important part of the church's care for older adults.
