Regeneration?

Regeneration can be defined as:

  1. to be formed again;
  2. to return from a state of decline to a revitalized state;
  3. to be restored and renewed spiritually.
Regeneration is our term-time 18:30 Sunday evening service which provides an alternative worship experience to that of the morning.  It offers a more informal setting with free and contemporary worship. In this service our aim is to let God regenerate and revitalise us through worship, teaching and fellowship so we can go out in God’s strength and power to regenerate our work places, universities, families and friends.

Regeneration Aim, Purpose and Vision

We come to Regeneration to worship God with awe, because awe leads to an increase in faith and faith leads to action. We come to get personally revitalised and restored so we can go into our work places, universities and families to regenerate them!

Regular Activities

Regeneration provides a varied calendar of events over the academic year. Here’s a taster of what to expect:

LivingRoom

Sundays @ 18:15
Feel free to come a little bit earlier to have a drink and some nibbles. This is just a time to meet new people and simply chill out before the service. Just drop by - we look forward to meeting you!

WorshipTeaching

Worship & Teaching

The worship of God in music and song, and the teaching of God’s word are central to the Regeneration service. The music is contemporary in style, and we encourage freedom of expression in Worship. We aim to provide strong Biblical teaching that is relevant to the age in which we live. Last year we explored the book by Rick Warren, entitled ‘The Purpose Driven Life’. This term we will be doing a series called ‘Reckless Faith! Living Passionately As Imperfect Christians’, which looks at the life of Peter.

RegenCelebration

‘The Regeneration Celebration’
At the end of every academic term we hold a special Regeneration service called ‘The Regeneration Celebration’. This is an evening totally dedicated to worshipping God in music and song, and also provides an opportunity to receive communion. (For more information on music or creative arts at Canterbury Baptist Church, see the Creative Arts Ministry section.)

For the next 'Regeneration Celebration', please see the Church Calendar or contact us directly.

The Sanctuary-Front
‘The Sanctuary’

Once a term we hold ‘The Sanctuary’ instead of our usual Regeneration service. This is an evening totally dedicated to seeking God in creative prayer, which is modelled on the world-wide 24/7 prayer concept.

The room is laid out with a number of differently themed 'stations' where you can sit, reflect, and pray using the various resources available in the room. There is freedom as to how you pray and use the time and resources - all with the aim that it draws you closer to God. (For more information on prayer, please see our Prayer Ministry section.)

For the next Sanctuary, please see the Church Calendar or contact us directly.
