Tyler Hill
Baptist Chapel
|
 |
Tyler Hill Baptist Chapel is a tied sister chapel of Cantebury Baptist Church, located in the village of Tyler Hill, between Canterbury and Whitstable.
Services
Services on Sundays follow a traditional pattern incorporating holy communion on the first Sunday of each month. The Minister and Assistant Minister from Canterbury Baptist Church are regular preachers along with a variety of lay preachers and local Anglican Ministers.
A time of fellowship over a cup of tea follows each service.
Occasional weekday/evening study sessions are held, along with coffee mornings at Easter and Harvest.
We are a small fellowship and welcome everyone who wishes to worship the Lord Jesus Christ.
History
Mr Stephen Gammon purchased land from a relative of his, Mrs Mary Cage, who lived in the Red House next door to the chapel, and presented the plot to the village as the site for a Baptist Chapel. The local community raised the money for the building and on 3 April 1885 Mr Joshua Cox laid the foundation stone. Centenary Celebrations were held in June 1985 and a booklet recording the first 100 years is available.
